How do you define love? Let’s learn how to express our views about this universal feeling. Watch, learn, and speak the beautiful video “The Meaning of Love.”

How to study English with this video:

Watch.

First, look at how the basic sentences are structured. You will see that the structure is SUBJECT+ VERB + OBJECT: “Love is family.”

Second, look at how the longer sentences are structured. You will see that after the basic structure, there are added details that answer the questions “where” or “for what” or “for who”. For example, “Love is there…(for what?)”. The answer is, “Love is there to hold us.” Another example is “It’s the most powerful thing…(where?)”. The answer is, “It’s the most powerful thing on the planet.”

Learn.

Thirdly, learn your vocabulary. Look at which words are used to describe love. Then you can get your own ideas on how to define love.

Speak.

Lastly, be familiar on how to pronounce the words in each sentence. Also, speak these lines so that you can practice communicating with correct sentence structures.

After studying the video, try answering this question: What do you think is the meaning of love?

Happy learning!

It is the most fun of all human emotions. It is nature’s way of keeping the human race together. If I were to give a piece of advice to people, it would be to love each other.

Love would be useless if you keep it to yourself. We’re used to loving ourselves, hiding it, keeping it, that we sometimes forget to feel our own love and the love of others. It’s just too important for us that we’re too scared to lose it and give it away. We’re scared to lose what motivates us every morning when we wake up.

Consider one thing: love is never limited. We have an unlimited supply of love and it never runs out. Don’t be selfish and share it with other people. Give it away freely. Giving it away freely doesn’t literally mean loving everyone around you despite being getting hurt, crushed and uncared for. It means loving others without expecting anything in return. Love with the purest, cleanest intentions. Love isn’t about having the most friends or having the richest parents who could give you everything you want and need. Only you could pause, play, and stop the flow of love into your life. No one can give you more love than you already have but yourself.

It’s that time of the year again when we wake up in the morning, cook breakfast, arrange the beds, and do household chores for our mothers. Once every May, our dear mothers won’t have to lay a finger on a single bed. They won’t have to worry about waking up early in the morning to feed us and make coffee or hot chocolate. It’s the day where they just sit back, relax, and let us, their children (and husbands) do everything for them. It’s like being household slaves for a day for them but it’s okay. They deserve all the pampering and relaxation they are our moms! Mother’s Day is a day for everyone around the world to show their appreciation towards their mothers.

We know how our mother’s just can’t leave the house to ourselves. They’re afraid that we might break or lose or burn something in the kitchen. Don’t let the mother instinct win against you. Do whatever it takes for mom to take a break from everything. Treat her as if she were the only woman in the world. Treat her like a queen where she doesn’t have to do anything but wave her hand and sit on the throne. Treat her like a goddess as if she was the only beautiful woman your eyes see.

Okay, maybe that’s a bit too much.

A simple hug or “I love you” would do. After all, she doesn’t need money or food or clothing or luxury to be happy on Mother’s day. The fact that you love her and she loves you, and the fact that you have each other as a reason for living is probably the best Mother’s Day gift you could give her. Tell her you love her and that you’re thankful for her. Tell her she did the right thing for raising a wonderful child.

But camps can be a perfect time to get students learning immersively and there is no better tool than EnglishCentral. Students will also enjoy the “tech time” and benefit immensely. We’ve had many camp programs that prove EnglishCentral works – both to help students acquire language proficiency and to have a fun, engaging time while studying. It can be either in a computer lab or using their own devices. Or maybe just the teacher showing EnglishCentral during class time.

Here’s a photo of Babel Talen students at Utrect University Summer School busy studying English. Why not your students too?

We are offering a special trial over the summer/winter period. Just fill out the form below, let us know your needs and we’ll contact you with details on the offer.

Happy camping to all teachers!

Technology as we know, wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for our beloved trees. If we save our trees, our trees can save our lives too. Here’s a list of why we should take care of them:

1. Trees provide us oxygen. It provides us better air quality so that the air we breathe is always clean.

2. Trees provide us food. Imagine a world without apples, bananas, or oranges. Who doesn’t love apples?

3. Trees provide us shelter. Trees provide animals shelter. They provide us excellent shade from the sun and occasional rain. Birds and other animals take shelter as well in big trees not just for cover but also for protection. They provide us lumber for our houses and furniture

4. Trees tell time. Who else would tell us when summer, spring, fall, and winter are coming but our lovely trees.

Of course, we are big fans of video. It is the new “text” and something that instantly engages students and transforms the language classroom into a place full of real, meaningful language.

We have over 10,000 video lessons, all with transcripts and subtitles/text. Our video editors are second to none and they produce only the very best videos for language learning and education. However, that is only half of the story. Half of the work. The rest is up to you.

Students must Watch | Learn | Speak and study the vocabulary. Teachers must organize the video lessons / learning for students, choosing what will work for their students.

In this vein, here is a fail safe lesson that both students and teachers will enjoy beyond belief. The “video appreciation” lesson.

It is really simple. Do the following.

1. Select 4 high quality videos (about 1 to 3 minutes in length) for students to watch. Tell them they are to watch them as video critics.

2. Play each video for a few moments. Stop and let the students guess what it is about.

3. Watch the whole video. Stop where it makes sense and ask students to predict what will happen next.

4. Hand out one of the Video Appreciation sheets (see below). Go over the categories.

5. Watch the video again and have students fill out the sheet and after discuss in a small group.

6. Turn over the sheet and repeat with the next video.

It’s fun. It’s full of great language to learn. It is engaging for students of any level. Plus, the students can study the videos on their own afterward on EnglishCentral!

Resources: Video Appreciation Sheet 1 Video Appreciation sheet 2

Try these 4 videos for intermediate level students!
