On January 25, 1924, the International Olympic Committee sanctioned an 11-day winter sport event at Chamonix, France. It became a huge success and was later called the first Winter Olympics. It’s the same as the Summer Olympics but it’s just a bit colder.
The Winter Olympics has evolved since its inception. The number of athletes and sports disciplines have increased since then. This event has become so popular through the years that this 2014, a lot of countries that don’t experience winter will compete for the gold. Bring out the athlete in you as we support our nations as they compete in Sochi, Russia.
