Earth is probably the only known inhabitable place in the solar system right now. Scientists and space engineers have dedicated their time and effort studying lifeless areas but they don’t need to go far to see one.
In Bolivia lies the largest ancient dry lake bed that is probably one of the many wonders of this world. Salar de Uyuni, also known as the salt desert, is said to be the biggest mirror during the rainy season. Covered by a few centimeters of water, you can actually see your own reflection on this salty earth. Not only do you see yourself everywhere you go, you also see salt and nothing else on this lifeless surface.
The salt can be up to ten meters thick so photographs taken here lose a sense of depth. Salar de Uyuni may probably look like a product of our childhood imagination with vast lands of nothingness but it is not. This is real. The next time you or your family and friends decide to go on a trip to the beaches of Bahamas or the forests of Brazil, why not check this one out. There’s probably nothing you can do here except admire yourself in the lake and take photographs but this amazing scenery will surely take your breath away. It’s one of the rarest and most beautiful places this world has to offer.
